 Wood bed original?
Let me through another question out to the veterns. The 70 that I picked up has a wood bed. It doesn't look like it came from the factory so heres my question. Did Chevy put wood beds on fleetsides in 70 and if so how do you know if your truck came with it?

 Re: Wood bed original?
Definitely not the factory wood bed. It would have the metal strips between them and wood is not all the same sizes...
...if your glovebox sticker is still there it should say wood bed.
I'm 99.9% sure you could get it as an option in 70 fleetside...

 Re: Wood bed original?
Yes, fleetsides could be ordered with the wood bed floor. It was a kind of rare option. No, yours is not original wood. I'm not sure how to tell if it originally had wood unless mentioned on the SPID on the glovebox door.

 Re: Wood bed original?
Pretty obvious the truck has been repainted. Don't notice any of that yellow under the maroon on the cab in that picture. Possible that that's not the original bed. Also, I thought the front bed panel (closest to the cab) was a different height for wood vs. metal floor. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Wood bed front panels are 3/4" taller (lower flange is 3/4" lower to make up for the thickness of the wood)
