Post My 74 Blazer Build
I guess this is the case of "If you can't finish one project, just start another" deal. I have had my eye on a 74 blazer (full convertible top) for a few years. I have talked to the owner several times about it, he never drove it and several years ago, his uncle pulled the engine, trans/transfer case to use in another truck. My plans are to make it a 2WD with a static lowering job, Install a 283 I have with either a 700R4 or 200-4R and drive it. It does need a hood and could use a drivers fender, the hood I have but have the wrong side fender. I would like to be able to ride around in it this summer, I don't think this will be a problem. As for budget? The least amount of $$ possible. I'm trading for the Blazer, have the hood, a TH350 if I can't come up with the 200 or 700, I have a 2WD front suspension and free labor here at school.
Now for a question, does anyone know if the 2WD cross member can be bolted to the 4WD frame or will I need to section it in? It was cut just behind the shock holes and is complete to the frame horns.
I can't post pics from here but if you go to https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater you can see the pics I posted there.

Woody, the 2wd drive crossmember will bolt to the 4wd frame. You will have to drill I think only two holes which are not in the 4wd frame.

 I'm not sure we can remain friends.

I've got you covered on a 200R4, but no 700R4s. Everybody wants them. That is, unless I can convince you to keep it 4WD.

Benny, thanks for that info, it will make life much easier. I will let you know on the cross member, I guess biggest thing is getting it here. Aaron, how much for the 2004R and are the buckets and console still there? I think Ron has cleared most of his stuff out, I don't remember seeing either of those out there.

I have 1 700R4 here and it's in the 72 Orange Blazer.

Good to know Puppy, I think this one will be ok but will know more on closer inspection. From what I remember, there is a little repair work on the upper left corner at the glass opening and fiberglass is showing in a few places. At some point, I may just coat it with spray in bed liner.

Unsure what condition ours is in, but we did have just the top of a top (meaning no sides or hatch), should you need patches.

My tentative plan is to go get it Monday. We are off and I am to have lunch with Debbie but after that it's off to fetch....hmmm...now to come up with a name. Oh well, that can wait.

Post Re: My 74 Blazer Build
Paint is much worse than I thought. It is being pressure washed as we speak, we'll see what is revealed. I know the left fender is junk, bottom rear gone looks really nasty. It has had a repaint at some point so color is not very consistent. Bottoms of both doors (passenger worse) pretty bad. I had a new repop set I got from Chris Conner but they were 77-87 so the door panels would not fit I have both used but they are 77 up also. Push comes to shove, I'll use them for parts and rebottom mine. The tail gate looks pretty good from the outside but when you open it, the whole bottom is gone. Roy has one we will probably do some trading on. I may end up springing for a gallon of hot rod primer and going that way for a while. I would really like to keep the color if it does not look too bad.
