Post Christ Crusader Chronicles
I decided to start a new thread to outline the 64 C-10 that I have been working on since about march of this year. As you venture your way through this, keep in mind that I work a full time job, as well as am about to get married Sept 15, 2012. So, If it's not perfect.... well, yeah, I didn't have two years to get this one together. Anyway, this will be filled with stories that will probably have you :floored:

ENJOY.... John 14:6

The previous picture was not long after I picked up the truck, I added a rattle can of white on the grill and bumper... just for giggles.

This pic is a shot of the interior... the floors were well.... tar paper, card board, rags, a little rusted metal, more tar paper, masking tape, duct tape, more card board, and a little carpet thrown on top.

the last shot shows the what I believe were cutlass bucket seat, that well.. are no longer with the truck. I sat down in the driver seat and got a tetnus shot in my butt from one of the springs coming through the bottom of what was left of the cushion.

Post Thanksgiving 2011
After tying to get the old brakes to work.... I had developed a carb leak...(Crazy right?) Well, I swapped the carb out for another one that I had laying around... My dad was fussing as he usually does whenever I make any adjustments... none the less he's under the hood I reach my hand through the window to crank up the truck... He fussing 'It ain't gonna start....' About that time it did.... And little did I know that the truck was in reverse....(someone has rigged a third gen camaro sifter to the turbo 400 that was in the truck, no indication of what gear it was ever in) So the truck starts backing up with my arm through the window, which wouldn't have been too bad, except for the garage is at the top of a BIG hill.... so I go chasing the truck down the hill.... swing open the door... and jump in slam the brakes.... NOTHING... ABLSOULTELY NOTHING happened.... and there is a thicket of trees rapidly approaching from behind.... I slam it back into one of the three drive gears and stop on the gas.... fortunately she skidded to a halt and I made my way back up the hill. Only to find my dad ROLLING in the drive way laughing like a hyena.... GOOD TIMES...

Post The last straw for the 6 lug set up.
My dad decided to take the old truck for a strole through the yard the other day.... testing out the brakes that we had been working on.... new springs, shoes, wheel cylinders.... etc... he makes his way across the acreage loops around and on his return trip the front left wheel comes off.... :floored: fortunately he was only doing about 3 mph.. so no serious damage. None the less, I've come across a 5 lug set up for a good price... so off with the old and on with the new.

Post REAR-END REHAB
I decided to start with the rear-end of the truck and then move to the front.... so here are the progress photos... Old wood bed looked like a ternite motel... so it went bye-bye... and the bed rails were all rusty too.... fortunately someone put a huge piece of steel in there over top of all this... which I will probably end up putting back in, until I get around to redoing the bed.

Don't mind the 20's... I got those before I got the 5 lug stuff for the truck.... $200 for the wheels and tires... I didn't think that was too bad.

Sounds like you're having quite a time with the old truck. Let's hope the 5-lug swap goes well!

I still have my old bed boards from my truck if you're interested. They're red oak, and weathered perfect for a rat rod/shop truck/driver.

Post Dash Work
I fell in love with the look of the dash cluster of the 60-63 double humped dash... speedo in the middle guages on the side... in fact I like it so much that I bought one, think it would fit in my 64.... UM.... :banghead: not exactly... so I was broken hearted :crying: being that it was march and I was getting married in Sept, I thought, maybe I'll just mimmic it with my dash.... So here is the dash cluster build...

First I pull the old dash
Image

Yank all the guts out
Image

Make a template from sheet metal of my old dash cluster (The lense worked well for this trick)
Image
Image

Then grabbed a 2" Hole saw.... I recommend a 2-1/16th if you can find it.... that little tiny diference will make life much easier. And use a clamp or somthing to hold it down and wear some gloves... or your fingers will look like... tewwy....
Image

I went with Equiis on my gauges, thought they were auto meter... had a brain fart... but they still have a nice classic look.
Image

I need to find a pic with the speedo plastic installed....

Hey guys... whew... yes it has been a while...

I got married September 15th. The wife and I are doing very well, thank you for all your well wishes!

Vicky did GREAT at the rod run! got us up there crusing around and back home safely. San into Slick68 while I was at Autozone on Dolly Pardon Prky, that was pretty cool, he regonized the truck...

So you guys are wanting updates, well...

I did a benefit car show in november, (I'll add those photos) other than that I was enjoying cruising around until I discovered the valve seals in the 327 were... well..... ummmm brtittle, crakced leaking oil onto the tops of the pistons...eww. My fuel mileaged fropped from 24 hwy (700-r4) to 12... lol. SOOOOOO I did a motor swap last month, 1976, L-82 from a 76 stingray corvette. In the mean tiem I'll be swapping valve seals in the 327. I'll upload photos, once I get them on my photo bucket page.

Other updates, sold the 20's.... have a set of 15x7's would like to get 18's.... but the wife doesn't see that's necessary..lol 20's would be nice, but those tires aren't cheap, so unless I fidn another deal, I'll be rollin on my old school rims, which I will say ride better than the 20's......

Lastly, I met another guy who has a SWEEEEET c-10, so I'm goign to try to get him to join so he can share his build and what he learned along the way.

Glad to hear you and the misses are doing well.

Hate to hear you had to pull the 327, but at least you got something back in to keep you rolling.

Try to stick around more often. We like company. Hope to be able to see ya again at a show or something sometime.

If anyone's interested it's an 86 IROC t top 5 speed, solid 350, a lot i mean a lot of upgrades and new parts!

So to Vicky

You will also notice the different wheels. For now it's tiem to clean her up and get her ready for the spring, I'll be glad to cruise her around with the Corvette L82 motor, it   likes to turn them over

It's about time you showed up. You've been missed around here.

Post Re: Christ Crusader Chronicles PART2
All Right.... So Ron you were right, free time has all but vanished... I've been married about 18 months +/-

Anyways.... the new Radiator totally kicked butt at the Rod Run, ran 165 sitting in traffic ALL DAY wooohoooo!!!!! The wife actually drove it up this fall... I'll have to post pics of that...

Also I stripped out the old carpet, it was 'quickly' done and I found out that the cut-pile style carpet that you get from Wal-Mart holds a TON of crap, dirt, fibers, fuzzies, link, straw, leaves, fur, and anything else it can find.... I found some indoor-outdoor at the Depot in medium pepper gray. It looks pretty sweet....

I finally got the valve seals on the 327 swapped, took the head to the shop to get the bolt removed.... :'( no such luck, seems that someone tried welding a piece of steel to the bolt and heated it up, drew the carbon to the top of the bolt, so now it is harder than crap to drill, even the machine shop guy was like, what is this Unobtanium.... so I guess I'll be looking for another set of heads for the 327... pretty crappy that motor is from a 69 corvette with 350 ponies from the factory.... That's it for now... oh I'm also working on another project, don't know it I mentioned that before a 1940 Chevy Sedan/Coupe.... :punk:
