Post Site down?
Is it just me, or was anyone else not able to connect to the site an hour or so ago (2:30 on Monday 4/6/09)? Lasted about an hour.

II've been having problems for close to a year now. I'll click a link and it'll start to go to a page, but the page just comes up blank. Have to do that 4 or 5 times in a row sometimes before the page actually loads.

I've had problems connecting 3-4 different times in the past few days. It's most likely the server.

I get here via tnctc.com also, but the redirect wasn't working. It was like the server had the site unreachable.

The site doesn't like my Samsung Omnia phone. It constantly refreshes the page. I'm unable to make it past the home page.

Can't really fix server problems. Those kind of problems are related to either DNS servers and/or the Website Host.

That is something I have been giving alot of thought to. I want to make the site more mobile friendly. I think I have a solution, but I'll wait til the updgrade to phpbb3 is done.

So does my Samsung Blackjack. I get caught in a loop every time I try to come here. Before you said something about the Pearl, I was going to guess it was Windows Mobile related. Not sure now.

What's your solution, Trai? Is phpbb3 more mobile friendly?

PHPBB3 is probably more mobile friendly, but what I have in mind is a very minimalistic style (very few images & basic colors). I am sure someone out there has already created a mobile stylesheet for a phpbb3 site. My plan is to rob their idea and hard work and use it here.

Just joking. I am sure it's shared freely.

Other than the quick reply form and another detail PHPBB3 is ready to go.

Someone already has it figured out for phpbb3, so it should be easy to implement.

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 4&t=582739

One guy on those forums even created a PHPBB3 installation on a subdomain and uses the same database as the main site. That way everything stays up to date between the two sites. On the subdomain the style is specifically setup for mobile browsers. This would be similar to what facebook does. You can access facebook's mobile site at http://m.facebook.com . You can also access it at http://iphone.facebook.com (cool interface). We could do the same thing with this site. Mobile users could access the site at http://m.tnctc.com or http://m.tennesseeclassictruckclub.com (whichever one we chose to use). I might give it a shot tonight and see what I can do.

Ok. Put in some overtime for you guys using mobile internet. I still have some tweaking to do to the mobile style, but just getting the site to switch styles is huge.

First try to access the site regularly on your mobile phone. If the style is completely different let me know.

Second (if the first option didn't work) go to http://m.tnctc.com on your mobile phone and let me know if the style changed.

**Do not go to m.tnctc.com from your computers browser. It WILL completely change the style of the site and you will have to clear your browsing history including cookies to get it back to normal. Just a warning!

Edit: I guess you could click the links below to change the style back and forth. Wasn't thinking.

Normal TNCTC Style - Mobile TNCTC Style

I couldn't get it to come up on m.tnctc.com or m.tennesseeclassictruckclub.com, but I think that's an issue with my phone. I'll give it a shot later.

Did you try just going to the site the regular way? If so, did the style change? By the way, I never set it up on m.tennesseeclassictruckclub.com. Figured m.tnctc.com was much easier to type in.

All it does is reload, I never even got to the site,
I had to remove my battery just to get it to quit.

I have been messing with this site called Skweezer. It shrinks the content down and makes it work on mobile phone and handheld devices. You guys might try it. I am gonna use it to make our site more mobile accessible.

http://m.tnctc.com should be working now for mobile access to the site. I just have it redirecting to the Skweezer site, but it should be useable.

I will check it out and report back in the morning.

The reload is what kills me too. It happens no matter how I get to the site.

cool. That's good to hear. I know it looks a little off, but that's about the best I can do without digging real deep into it.
