Post Trucks Settin`In Snow
I know not evrybody escapes the frosty white stuff this time of year. And,I think especially not this year.So far up here we`ve had a record breaking December. We don`t hardly get snow until January usually. And,usually maybe two-three snows all year.Alot of 1-2 inchers.Mucho ice-o.I`m take snow, thank you.
Let`s see pictures taken through this winter of your`s,your neighbors, settin`in fields,on the road,in junkyards...it`s something to do this winter, right?

Last weekend we had our 2nd snow ater an early 6 incher 1st week of the month. This one was 22"!!! I have my old Highlander at my house right now (sold it):

This was a perfect snow. You knew it was coming. There was no dought. You had a chance to get everything ready and wait.No power went out,it was fluffy and light, and they couldn`t spread salt till the day after. It`s what they call a Winter Nor`easter. Not sure why, sounds like Maine...heheh.It`s when moisture from the Gulf (s/w) mixes with a cold front from the n/w,like Alberta, right on top of the Mid-Atlantic.They always travel up the coast from here (n/e).I don`t care what it`s called. But,I hung out with a fire in the stove and plenty to eat gettin`ready for Christmas.Then....just before dark...I went out in the Highlander and that was f-u-n.It`s not my truck,so I didn`t go back in the woods or anything wild.Just chuggin`a 400 along in the snow, lookin`at it all from a sweet Chevy truck.I should have made a video.DOH!!
I have other pics from other snows.Anyone else????This ain`t the Florida Truck Site,is it? I saved the best for last from this snow...unplowed road:

Post Re: Trucks Settin`In Snow
I was never in it.It has a manual throttle and I was trying to catch it.LOL

I guess I did a good job hiding my footprints.I came along the driver side to the back. You can barely tell in the rear shot. Then I stayed away enough to leave the prints out. This was a welcome rare site.No mix,no ice,no wet, just fluffy white snow. And,no salt!! Maryland loves that salt. But,it was far from saltin`time when I went out.My road had no less than 6" even after they plowed. It wasn`t until that night or the next morning that salt could be spread.I never took this truck in the snow the whole time I owned it.Same with the`72 GMC and the`72 Cheyenne Super I had.No wait, the same thing happened in`94 or so.I think we had 36" that time.We didn`t see a plow until the afternoon of the second day.We had drifts as high as the hood.I went around the bend where it`s open and drifts in my`90 Blazer and it was bogging bad.I got all high centered in a drift, dug behind the wheels and rocked it out of there. Then,I came out in the K/20 and blasted a fresh path out to the state road. The snow was coming over the hood and the rear kept coming around.Man that was a blast.I drove to the state road, down to the crossroad, turned again, and ended up coming back into the valley on an old dirt road that comes out near my place.Someone washung up blocking the road.No drifts, this is woods.I dragged them out and punched on through.I made a full loop.I kept seeing people that live on my road after that and they were all thanking me for punching it out so there`s could get out.I had fun and was the hero too.It doesn`t get any better than that.

When it snows get some pictures.Or,just winter shots. They all don`t set inside in the winter.I have other in the snow shots rom other years.Got any?

Would you have lent it back to me to drive in the snow? I was wanting you to have it,too.I`m glad a friend did end up buying it.I had a guy trying to buy it or a year and a half.I`m sure glad he kept waiting for me to put an axle u-joint in it so he could "see if the 4wd worked".I realized as long as I didn`t put it in I could keep it.I really wanted to sell the GMC."But,this one has a lift",he`d say.I told him I`d put a lift on the GMC if he bought it.He wasn`t the right guy for an old truck. He just wanted something with big tires. It could have been a newer truck. His last one was a Toyota w/Chevy drivetrain. He just wanted a`72 because the guy I knew him through (my neighbor) is into them.

Cool pics thanks.
Growing up in Ohio, I got to play in the snow alot. Had a '79 Ramcharger with a BB in it and also a couple of 70's FJ40's. Was a blast. There is a 10-12 acre hayfield at my parents and I would hook up a toboggan behind the Dodge and pull my kids around in the snow. Got my middle son up to about 45 mph one time. They still talk about those times 12-13 years later.

Gotta be creative when you`re all alone. We just got clobbered with 30" last weekend and now it`s snowing again.Supposed to be as much as a foot.New England ain`t gettin`diddley.I thought this was MD not ME .I`m still likin`it tho`.I`ll get back with ya if power goes out.Hasn`t happened this year, yet.Supposed to be high winds at some point...so I dunno.I have a pork tenderloin on the grille that I bought Friday at the locker plant when I was loading up for the last storm.Low`n`slow, that is the tempo.I started marinating it Friday.I never know if my boy will be stuck here with a buddy or two.He ended up at a buddies for a few days instead. That sumbich is gonna be goo-ood!
Here`s the GMC in the driveway and I`ll get more after this one`s done:

Mucho snowo,eh?Snowin` it`s but off here now.We have 4" already.:) Got plenty of wood in and fire`s a blazin`in the stove. My sister up by Skyline Drive hasn`t had power since Saturday. It`s "supposed to" come on by 11 tonight. They`re supposed to get 4-6".It`s a narrow band that I`m in.They`d leave but they`re keeping the stove going to save the plumbing. They have to walk down to the valley to their trucks.

I lived in Muskegon Michigan for about 12 1/2 years. It was right on the shore of lake Mi. and we got tons of snow. I never had a 4wd truck so had to rely on new studded snow tires and a new battery every winter to keep my old junk going up and down the road. Your pics makes it almost look like fun. I don't have those fond memories.

Tender and jooooo-ceee.I let it out there for 3 hours...in and out.I`ll take a picture of the grille area tonight with the light on.Right now it`s a buncha white on white.I`ll be eatin`it again tonight.
Ron,you know,I am enjoying it.It`s going to hurt my pocket not working.I`m hoping I`ll pick up some work from damage. So good & bad. What are ya gonna do?Springs right around the corner.I might feel different if it was December.I did a job in January and it never snowed and it was 40-50 degrees.I could deal with that.I think one day I had to wear my Carhart bibs cuz it was windy and cold.It may be a while till I can do this 16 window job I stocked last Friday. But,knowing it`s there is good.
I`m fixing good food and t`s amazing what you get done thinking power can go out.My flannel bedding is all washed,I vacuumed, and that little bit of painting I needed to finish since before Christmas is next. The can`s been sitting on the steps looking at me the whole time and the chair I moved need to go back.It was were my Christmas tree was...`bout time I got that done.I`ve been playin`CDs and talking with my new gal.I`m feedin`the birdies up under my little side porch.Life is good.So far still have power. It`s blowin`up now. It`s a blizzard out there.Photobucket`snot acting right.Got tired of waitin`.I`ll show pictures later.
My buddy with my old Highlander went out squirrelin`around in a field last Saturday night in a field. He sent me a phone picture saying "I think I`m stuck".I thought he was joking. The next night he sent me another picture "I guess this was the problem" with the tire off the rim.He couldn`t even tell with all that snow.It has a locker and he said it just wanted to go in circles :D! He put another tire on and drove it out.He said he got all whited out and hit something with the mirror and dented the door :(.The other morning he pulled the bumpers and trim and ran down to the body shop for an estimate to fix any rust and get it painted. He`s bitin`the bullet and she`s gettin` a restoration. It`s setting there now.We just picked up another`72 K/20 for a mud bogger and he`s going to just run that a while until the Highlander`s all pretty. We`re moving ahead with lifting it and getting Buckshot Mudders on it.

How`d you guess? After my divorce I`ve been doing a lot of soul searching and decided to become a monk.I now reside in Tibet.
I cleared both snows with a coal shovel.I`m feeling real buff now and plum tuckered out!
We had 30-32" than 20-22" all in under a week. We`ve had more than Maine, more than Buffalo NY,more than anywhere but Flagstaff,AZ!! It`s nuckin`futs.More coming tomorrow.Just a puney one under 6". (usually the most we get)

Here`s a truck this Sunoco station has had forever. He`s big on Chevy trucks.Nice to see them still used.I`d like to have this one to play with when it snows:

First of all, AWESOME PICTURE! I Love that...

Second, I'd love to give you some pictures of my truck in the snow and we've had almost 3ft total at my house but my truck is in pieces in two different garages :crying: :haha:

I`m talkin`snow here,not that thing!

Like my girlfriend says,it`s not size that matters. When I started this I had no idea there`d be more snow than we`ve ever had in a year.My first pictures were a decent snow for down south of here.Heck,a decent normal snow for here.I`m used to sportin`no more that 6" normally. So,Ron,you da man.I`m used to having 3-4" most the time. When I plowed my contracts were per up to 3-4" snowfall,if that says anything about how 54" that week was.It made it downright hard to just walk!!!

Not the size of the piston- it's about the bore of the stroke

I was told it's not the length of the rope but how you dangle the bucket.

Me too. They bought that place in`57.The husband just died at 88 and the Mrs.will stay on against the advise of others.I told her I understood exactly, her home is a living thing.Their water is pumped from the spring house.Against the stone wall behind it is a small spring basin,it`s piped into the spring house which has the through all around the walls, then gushes out that pipe into another trough outside. The pond is just below and is fed by the spring.I feel privileged to work in such a nice setting.I will have other work there later on.

Here`s the little spring well:
Image

Well,it`sMarch now and could be the end of the snow, but maybe not.Especially not if the almanac is right about this mother of storms early this month. If it`s wrong,it`ll be the first for this season. It prdicted the first one in December that was big enough..18",the one with the blue & white truck and it predicted the two back to backs in early February. This March one`s supposed to be 36".We`ll see.My`92 is down. The NV4500 gave up the ghost and all I have is my trusty`72.I`m hoping to keep her out of the nasty stuff, but gotta do what ya gotta do.
Here`s more snow pictures`10 with or w/o trucks.A year to remember for snow around here:

Biggest snow we have had in a few years, lol. I was hoping for at least 6 inches and we ended up with about 4.

Just enough to cramp your style. We're supposed to get 1-4" by morning.

I know you all have had some unusual weather, along with the snow. I guess the last thing you want to do is go out and take pictures. Can't blame ya.
We just got 11" on top of the 4 or so that was still laying in my yard.
