Post Wish me Luck
Next weekend I get to do something I havn't done in over thirty five years. Swap out the motor on my DD. Its going from a tired and leaking 230 to a slightly warmed up 250. While it is out I will be I be installing a syncromesh first gear transmission. So like I said wish me luck.

Good luck with your swap. Since it's your DD you don't need any snafus. I did this swap in the late 70's early 80's on my 65 GMC. The shift linkage wouldn't work so we went with a floor shift. The drive shaft had to be shortened to fit also. If you have already addressed these issues then you are good to go. If not, double check just to be sure. You'll love it when you get it done.

"ITS ALIVE". Finished the install last weekend but due to family issues was not able to get it started. Today I turned the distributer 180 Degrees and it started right up. And before you ask I did take photos now all I need is to find out how to post them.

Post Re: Wish me Luck
Only one problem now. The new motor overheats. Fan belt is tight and a new water pump was installed with the rebuilt. My question is could the new motor with flat top pistons a marine type cam and porting run that much hotter than the stock 230? Would it normally require a larger radiator?

Also how do I download photos from my computer to this post?
