Post AC question
AC question about my 99 Suburban. This is my problem. Some days it cools some days in don't.
It has the correct amount of freon so I am not sure what it might be. I was thinking maybe an obstruction in the system somewhere??? or????

Post Re: AC question
Here are some questions:
1. When it's not cooling is the compressor running?
2. Does ambient temp have any effect on it's working?
3. Has there been any work performed on the system?

1. When it's not cooling is the compressor running?
yes, compressor seems to be cycling normally

2. Does ambient temp have any effect on it's working?
It seems to me that it does not cool as good with warmer temps, but the wife drives it daily and she says it comes and goes no matter what the temp

3. Has there been any work performed on the system?
Not since I have owned it (other than I have added freon a couple of times)
that being 7 yrs, can't say about before, but it looks like it has never been touched

Could possibly be a blend door issue. If you could disconect the door motor when it's cooling like it should and drive it for a while and see what happens.

I drove it for a few days to see for myself how it acts. Under 90 degrees it will cool ok on the highway and is not as cool in town. Above 90 it don't cool no matter what. So what do you think oh great Woodmeister. The door does not seem to matter.

:flag: My 99 Silverado is doing about the same. It has been in the shop for over a week and spent over $200 and still don't have a clue what's wrong. :exit:

Sorry guy's. not having internet at home sucks. Ron, I like your aproach to fixing the problem, just jack it up and run a new one under it.
Benny, Have you put gauges on it to see what the presures are running? That would be a start.
At an ambient temp of 70 reading should app. be:
Low High
35 200
55 360
You can graph presures in between these numbers, I couldn't put the actual graph in the post.

Readings outside these could mean a restricted orifice tube or reciever dryer, inside these could mean a leak bypassing the O.T. or a weak compressor.

Hope this helps.
