Post Ticking noise(I need a second opinion)
If anyone is going to be around the Knoxville area any time in the near future, I need ya to stop by and listen to something. I have had a pretty decent tick under the hood. It ain't an exhaust leak and it is getting a little worse. I think I know what it is, but before I go diving in, I'd just like a second opinion from someone else. house: 865 247 5642 cell: 251 233 0199

That or cam lobe is biting the dust. I thought it may be the lifter but the same amount of oil is coming out of the top of the pushrod as the rest, when I re-adjusted the rockers. I know that still doesn't rule it out.

With the engine running and valve cover off, try putting your palm on the push rod end of the rockers and apply some presure and see if it makes any difference. Also, fuel pumps can make a lifter type noise as well as timming chains hitting the cover.

I'll give that a shot...I thought it may be the fuel pump to cause it was kind of in sync with the fuel hose....i could feel the pressure go up every time I heard the tick. Listened to the pump with a screwdriver and it was just making the normal flowing sound. I'll let you know tomorrow about the rocker....may give you a call. Thanks Woody.

So I am not sure, about this.....#6 intake rocker was loose(I am pretty sure that I tightened the center set screw when I re-adjusted them). Examined the pushrod to ensure it wasn't bend and even, using my neighbors handy fiber optic scope, took a look at the top of the lifter to see if it was damaged. Nothing.....so I re-adjusted and took it for a spin. Good now....I just hope it stays that way. Fluke accident....hope so. I having some anxiety with all the oil/flat tappet stories.

Like everything else in the world, I will just blame my mistakes on the Democrats. Always makes me feel good to know they are there for something.
