Post The fire that almost was.
While installing a new Sun Tach I noticed several scorched wires. One had all of the insulation burned off. I was not planning on installing my new wiring until after paint but with the damage I'm not sure. I can reinsulate the wires as a temporary fix. Opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it didn't burn the first time I would just separate and tape the wires.

AKKKKK!!!!

I've been there before. If you aren't planning more than just moving the vehicle around you can get away with taping them up. If you are planning ANY driving loner than 5 minutes I would replace, or at least splice in some new wire where these are/were gooey. Once a wire gets that hot, its voltage and amperage intergity is very seriously degraded. This can cause other issues elsewhere, I'm speaking from expirence on more than a few vehicles...

My rule is function over fashion... make sure you can get there, before you make aure you can get there in style... I was much happier that way.... and I've been in both situations.

Hope that helps :-)
