Post Tires: Need Your Opinion
I am replacing my fake street stars with some 17" diameter/8" wide/4.5" backspacing American Racing Ansen Sprints. I haven't purchased new tires yet. My current tires are 235/70/15 (27.95" tall) in the front and 255/70/15 (29.05" tall) in the rear. There is roughly a 1/2" fender gap in the front and a 1" fender gap in the rear.

I was looking at a 255/60/17 (29.05" tall) for the front. I put my current rears (255/70/15) on the front to check clearance since they are the same height/width as the 255/60/17's. They are way too close to the fenders. They are both too wide (10"+) and too tall for the front. I've thought about a 255/55/17 (28.04" tall), but I think it will be too wide also. I think a 235/60/17 (28.1" tall) might be the size. Being 9.25" wide, it should fit my 8" wide rims fine. What do you think?

I'm fairly set on a 275/60/17 (29.99" tall) for the rear, but I have considered a 275/55/17 (28.91" tall). Opinions?

I would go with the ones that are 28.1 tall up front and 29.99 in back

it would close the gap in the back wheel well and you would still be able to turn up front

That's a tough decision, do you ever plan to go any lower?

I am happy with the stance as it sits, so I'm not going any lower.

So are you worried about the 255's being too wide for the 8" wheel or just too wide inside the fenders?

What width and backspacing are the ProStar wheels?

I am worried about the tires being too wide for the fenders. The Prostar wheels are 7" wide with a 4.25" backspacing.

Ok, yeah you might want to go with the 235's. The 255's may rub.

That's hard to say without actually seeing them on the truck, I do like the way it sits now though.
