I am going to try to find a list of the codes stamped in the tube, they are different from the RPO codes.

Post Re: Axle codes
I looked through this list but could not find any thing on my rear end to match .....????????????
these are the #'s that I have on my 12 bolt under the Blazer....
all #'s are on the housing not the tubes....

passenger side, H218 <--- this is the date it was made

. 3896839 <-----\
. N <------------/ not sure what this is I cant find any info

driver side, GM85 <--- not sure about this one also, it does not match the list above?

I am trying to find out what gear ratio I have with out pulling the cover on the diff.. not sure if these #,s will help me do that or not.

any help would be greatly helpfull and thanks even if it doesn't help

I need to get my speedo working and reading right lol.... I need a new cable and a gear for a th350c but if I remember correctly the th350 is the same as far as this is concerned.

Post Re: Axle codes
Matt, jack your Blazer up so that the back wheels are off the ground and you can reach the driveshaft. Mark a wheel and the driveshaft so you can see every time they make a complete revolution. Turn the wheel once and count how many revolutions the driveshaft makes, and that should give you an approximation of your gearing (then look up what gear ratios your Blazer came with to figure out exactly what it is).

Post Axle codes
Depending on how long you
have owned it & how many
miles are on it, you might
want to have it serviced.

Then check it during!
